Project History
RSI Ltd, based in Derbyshire, is a Bridge Inspection and Testing company
and is
currently working on some of the busiest infrastructures in the UK.
Other Areas
In addition to Area 9, RSI Ltd has undertaken inspection work within other MAC areas. These
include Area 7 (previously Scott Wilson & Tarmac in North East Derbyshire and the PLaN Consortium,
a partnership of Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire County Councils), and Area 17 (now Area 10) for Lancashire County Council.
For PLaN, RSI carried out detailed post tensioned inspection work to Clifton Bridge , which carries part of the A52 northbound Nottingham ring road traffic and the merging eastbound A453 traffic over the River Trent. With over 80,000 vehicles a day using this structure, it forms a major link in Nottinghams road network system.
Other inspection work for PLaN included a post tension inspection investigation to Winthorpe Bridge on the A1 and non-destructive testing, sampling with subsequent laboratory analysis of collected samples from several structures along the A453.
In what was previously known as Area 17, RSI Ltd was sub-contracted by Scott Wilson Kirkpatrick & Co, under Edmund Nutall Ltd to carry out post tensioned inspections to several structures within the area. This was based upon a study by the HA outlining the susceptibility of corrosion to post- tensioned structures. Roads included the M6, M58, M65, A56 and A5036.
As well as MAC areas, RSI Ltd has also carried out inspections for local authorities, particularly Leicestershire County Council. Many of these inspections were classified as confined space entry, which RSI inspection staff are fully qualified in. Some such structures included manhole-entry culverts beneath public areas in Loughborough town centre.
